Get Auto Insurance for Younger Drivers

The younger you are, the higher your premiums will be. Insurance companies do not like unknown risk, and as a new untested driver, teens present wild cards. Teen drivers could grow up to be responsible drivers or kill themselves and all their passengers racing, drunk driving or other.

Claims show newer, inexperienced drivers are more likely to get into an accident when compared to older, seasoned drivers. If you are under 25 years of age:

Stay on your parent's policy

Get on your parents car insurance policy to ease the youth driver penalty. The known risk your parents offer the car insurance companies will offset your unknown risk. But if you speed and have accidents, your parent's premiums will get jacked. Not recommended for reckless teen drivers, if you no longer stay at your parents or if the car is registered to you.

Buy a low risk car

The car you drive has a huge impact on what you pay. Teen drivers love sporty cars. The faster the car, the more likely you will get into an accident. Consider maybe driving a four door, family sedan or a minivan rather than a muscle car.

Get married

Marriage can lower your premiums. Married young drivers are less likely to drive carelessly. Low car insurance rates are not a reason to get married quickly, but it's happened before and is a nice bonus for those who are.

Instead of paying full price for car insurance, take advantage of these tips and reduce your teen car insurance rates.
